You are pregnant does not exclude you from acne. In fact, your pregnancy can trigger acne more than necessary on your skin. Alas! It is possible that your pregnancy can reduce break-out if you have acne-inclined skin (if possible). These facts will help you position yourself regards acne now that you are carrying a baby.
Higher levels of hormones called androgens are at least partly responsible for pregnancy breakouts because they can prompt the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and boost production of an oily substance called sebum. Every pregnant woman is different. Some women already have acne and pregnancy makes it worse, while others experience healthy “glowing” skin.
If you are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant, there are a couple things you should know about how your skin will be affected:
1. If you already have acne, your skin could either break out more during pregnancy, or simply clear up (hopefully it does!).
2. If you’ve always had clear skin, you could develop acne.
3. Consider safe medications during/after your pregnancy.
4. Seek regular counsel from your doctor before starting any medications.
5. Know about the health of your reproductive system and get pregnancy basics.
6. Morning sickness usually occurs in the early period of pregnancy, in the first three months. It is very popular among women, as almost 80% of them have nausea and puke in the morning.
7. Drink a lot of water regularly.
8. Pregnant women loves ice cream: Not all women crave pickles and ice cream, but food cravings such as these are based in fact. Women who crave pickles are really craving salt and may be mineral deficient, and specifically sodium deficient.
9. Pregnant women must eat for two – herself and baby. What about mothers that have been eating as much before pregnancy? Make sure you have a control over your eating habit.
10. Acne exacerbates in pregnancy. Every problem has an expiry date, never to worry – your focus and patience in dealing with that acne will give you solution.
