There have been a countless number of studies done on what causes acne. Some say diet, some say its genetic. If you have acne its important you do your research and figure out the true causes of acne. Don’t take someone else’s word, take the time to do your own research. Here are a few myths you should know about acne.
The first myth is that you have acne because you are not cleaning your skin. This could not be further from the truth. Acne is a disorder caused by oily skin, dead skin cells and bacteria. When these 3 things are trapped in the follicle, the follicle wall will rupture and that causes a pimple to be created. So it has nothing to do with you not cleaning your skin. In fact, if you wash your face too much you will only aggravate your acne and make it worse.
The second myth is that acne is contagious. Let me quickly ease your mind. Acne is NOT contagious. You are not going to catch acne by being around someone with it. Again, acne is caused by oily skin, dead skin cells and bacteria. None of these can be caught by hugging, kissing, or touching a person who has acne.
I can’t say this enough but please do your own research when it comes to your acne. Find out what you can do to make the breakouts less frequent. Many times you can make simple changes to your diet and you will see amazing results.
